Ex-Kentucky Boss Caught in Indiana

On the run since Aug. of last year, the frmr. president of Local 1 of the United Steel Wrkrs. union is in an Indiana jail, awaiting extradition to Kentucky.  Timothy Aldridge was indicted in April for the embezzlement of nearly $113,000 from the local union.  A warrant for his arrest was issued when Aldridge did not show up for an Aug. 21 hearing on the case.  He was arrested in Washington, Ind., on Oct. 2 for possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement.

On Feb. 23, Asst. U.S. Attny. Fred Stine petitioned U.S. Magistrate Judge J. Gregory Wehrman to order Aldridge’s transportation between the U.S. Dist. Ct. for the East. Dist. of Kent. and Indiana as needed.  Judge Wehrman agreed, and Aldridge is scheduled to be in the Covington fed. court on April 1 for a pre-trial conference, and on April 12 for the trial.
