Former President Pleads Guilty to Embezzlement in Ky. Fed. Court

On April 9, in the U.S. Dist. Court for the East. Dist. of Ky., Timothy Aldridge, frmr. president of United Steel Wrkrs. Local 1 in Florence, pled guilty to one count of embezzling $112,525 in union funds.  Aldridge had been indicted on April 9, 2003, following an investigation by the Cincinnati Dist. Ofc. of the U.S. Ofc. of Labor Mgmt. Standards. [OLMS, 4/27/04]

 

Ex-Bookkeeper Sentenced for Embezzlement in Calif. Fed. Court

On April 16, in the U.S. Dist. Ct. for the Sou. Dist. of Calif., Julie Palmi, frmr. bookkeeper of United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1116, was sentenced to six months home confinement with work release privileges and three years probation.  She was also ordered to make full restitution.  Palmi pled guilty on January 21, to one count of embezzling approximately $53,570 in union funds.  An information charging Palmi with embezzlement was filed on Oct. 16, 2003.  This case was transferred from the Dist. of Minn. to the Sou. Dist. of Calif. with the consent of the parties. The charge, guilty plea, and sentence follow an investigation by the Minneapolis Resident Investigator Ofc.of the U.S. Ofc. of Labor Mgmt. Standards.
