On August 25, in the Superior Crt. of Wash. for Snohomish County, Dorothy Weber, ex- bookkeeper for the Northwest Sheet Metal Wrkrs. Organization Trust, was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment for five counts of first degree theft. She was ordered to pay restitution of $542,778 and a victim assessment in the amount of $500. Weber was charged on May 7, following a joint investigation by the Seattle Dist. Ofc. of the U.S. Ofc. of Labor-Mgmt. Frmr. Secy.-Treasurer Confesses to Falsification in NY Fed. Court
On August 24, in the United States District Court of the Western District of New York, Barrie Williams, secretary-treasurer of Longshoremen Local 2000-A, pled guilty to falsifying union records in order to conceal taking $7,047 in union funds. Ex-Secy.-Treasurer Indicted for Embezzlement in Mich. Fed. Court
On August 20, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Jonathan Lasalle Quinn, former financial secretary-treasurer of PACE Union, Local 06-126, was indicted on one count of embezzling union funds in the amount $10,394.00, and one count of falsifying union records.
