On February 4, Keith H. Cook, former secretary-treasurer of United Transportation Union (UTU) Local 620, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to a year in prison and three months supervised probation for embezzling union funds, and 10 months in prison and a year of supervised probation for making a false entry in the records of the Chicago union. He also will have to pay $47,079.21 in restitution and pay a $125 assessment. Cook was convicted by a jury last September. The concurrent sentences follow a joint investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS) and Office of Inspector General.
