On February 17, Todd Novak, former secretary-treasurer of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division 3, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio to six months of home confinement and two years probation, and was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine. Last October he pled guilty to embezzling $47,780.89 from the Cleveland-based, Teamster-affiliated union, a sum which he since has repaid. The sentencing follows an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
