New Jersey Transit Workers President Pleads Guilty to Loan Fraud

On September 10, Joseph Moon, Jr., former president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1626, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey to a criminal information count of receiving improper loans. He had obtained $14,931 in unapproved loans from the Edison, N.J. (Middlesex County) union. The guilty plea follows an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
