Ironworkers Office Manager in Indiana Pleads Guilty, Sentenced

Construction workersOn September 16, Jeanne R. Brophy, former office manager for International Association of Iron Workers Local 379, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana to one count of embezzlement of funds from the Lafayette-based union. She immediately was sentenced to two years probation, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 and a special assessment of $100. She already had paid $47,172 in restitution. The guilty plea and sentencing follow a probe by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
