On October 19, Harold Ullum, former vice president and West Virginia District Manager of the Parkersburg-based Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia to six months home detention and five years probation for making a false statement on an Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) form. Ullum, who pleaded guilty in July, also was ordered to pay a $20,000 fine plus a $100 special assessment. The sentencing follows an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
