On June 11, Barbara Gallagher, former financial secretary of United Steelworkers Local 2-1007, was charged in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan with one count of making a false statement in union financial records for 2005. The union is based in Howell, Mich., west of Detroit. The charge follows an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
