Mississippi Letter Carriers Candidate Indicted for Election Fraud

letter carriers logoOn August 18, Sharron Haynes, a former candidate for office of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 217, was indicted in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi on three counts of submitting or facilitating the submission of false certification stating she was eligible to run. Haynes allegedly indicated that she had not served as a supervisor within two years prior to October 2008, when in fact she served as late as May 2008. The indictment follows a probe by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
