On December 17, James Correll, former president of Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America Local 238, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois to two years probation, the first six months in home detention, for embezzling $22,278 in funds from the Morrison, Ill.-based union during March 2003-August 2008. He also will have to make full restitution. Correll had pleaded guilty in August. The guilty plea and sentencing follow an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
