On January 27, Max Messamore, former president of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 2039 in Somerset, Ky., was charged in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky with embezzling $2,293.77 in union funds. The charge follows a probe by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
