Financial Secretary of Steelworkers Local in Wisconsin Sentenced

steelworkers-logoOn March 29, Nickolas Weihert, former financial secretary of United Steelworkers Local 4845, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin to three years probation, eight months home confinement, and was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and a $350 special assessment for theft of $17,256 in funds from his union. He had been charged last October and pleaded guilty in November. He previously had made restitution in the amount of $17,316.62. The union is based in Watertown, Wisconsin, a small city west of Milwaukee. The sentencing follows a probe by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
