On June 23, Brenda Olson, former office secretary for United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 851, was sentenced in Anoka County (Minn.) District Court to 60 days in jail, with the option of home monitoring and work release, and five years probation for embezzling funds from the Anoka-based union. She also will have to pay $7,310 in restitution. Olson pleaded guilty on May 5 after being charged last December with stealing more than $19,000. The sentencing follows an investigation by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
