On June 6, Garold Lawson, former president of National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) Local R14-139, was sentenced in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri to six months confinement, four months home confinement and three years probation for embezzling $67,566 in union funds. He had pleaded guilty in January. The local represents several hundred employees of E.D.P. Enterprises, a food service contractor for Fort Leonard Wood Army Base in central Missouri. NAGE is affiliated with the Service Employees International Union. The sentencing follows an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
