On June 27, Thomas Wagner, financial secretary of United Steelworkers Local 897, pleaded guilty to falsifying financial records to cover his theft of $5,526 in funds from the Cheektowaga-based union. The guilty plea follows a probe by the Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
