On August 29, Bernard Nolter, former secretary-treasurer of United Steelworkers Local 635, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania to one count of falsifying records in connection with embezzlement of funds from the Mount Carmel (Northumberland County), Pa.-based union. The guilty plea follows a probe by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
