Machinists District Business Agent in Minnesota Sentenced

On May 2, James Kiser, former directing business representative for International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 165, was sentenced in Stearns County (Minn.) Court to five years of probation and 30 days in jail, with credit for one day served, for theft in the amount of roughly $5,920 from the St. Cloud union. He also was ordered to pay full restitution and a $50 fine. He had pleaded guilty in March after being charged in December 2012. The actions follow an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
