On July 14, Bernadine Bell, former treasurer of International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 757, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan to one count of embezzling about $73,000 in funds from the Detroit union. She had been charged in June. The actions follow an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards and Office of Inspector General.
