Steelworkers Local President in Oklahoma Pleads Guilty

On April 8, Thomas Burkhart, former president of United Steelworkers Local 145, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma to embezzling $19,900 in funds from the Sapulpa-based union. He had been charged on March 25. The actions follow an investigation by the U.S. Labor Department’s Office of Labor-Management Standards.
